... so many people, there may be hope for the rest of us, too.

I heard a French mass in the Crypt Chapel—it is actually pretty and pleasant in there, and the mass was sung nicely by an older man—and Bernadette has some body fragments buried there, while most of her resides in the convent in which she lived out her life. We purchased little bottles to take some Holy Water home but you could buy 5 ...

Caught the train to Lourdes. It is six hours from Paris but we had been looking forward to seeing the grotto where Bernadette saw the Virgin Mary. The basilica is magnificent. Lourdes is picture postcard. It is tranquil and the river runs through the town. There is a fort high up on ...

... Her hair color is still not natural (dam it). Every evening there is a torchlit procession which was a spectacular event, unbelievable amount of people all carrying candles in the procession. Praying and singing. Our hotel was old but had character and fantastic view of the river and the town. When you go for a walk there are tons of shops selling little Catholic souvenirs such as statues of Mary, crus affixes and lots of little bottles so you can take the grotto water ...
