... gem. Perhaps some of the only beaches in the world that are as vivid and enticing to the human eye as the pictures in the guidebooks show. Camilo Beach was definitely the beach that won me over. A solid walk from the main beach that we scaled the cliffs (literally) to reach. The perfect place to take a snap (or numerous in our case Sonia and Case hey?) or simply sit, read (David and Goliath incase you were wondering. Victor I did ...

Luxury in Lagos

... hundreds of companies offering a 1 hr grotto trip for only €10 on a small fishing boat from the marina which I decided to try out. Not being the most sea worthy of people I thought 1 hour should be fine and by the time I started to feel unwell we would already be nearly back. Not the best logic as a small fishing boat stopping to look at grottos bounces around quite a bit and within 20 mins I was ready to head back! By the time the ...

... was off elsewhere and I was stuck alone. I would have rather been with hitler this guy was that annoying. Just kept going and going about how he had to walk all this way and when he mentioned (on multiple occasions) how bad his day was I bit my tongue and just walked a little faster trying to take on his pudgy ness with my superior leg height. He wasn’t budging and I could only wish our trip was up mount doom and I could push him and his ring into the pits of lava ...

The waters a bit cold in Lagos isn't it Henry?!

... Henry was not impressed because it was my idea to check out Lagos. But the place in it's entirety was pretty special. The little town was so neat and trying to drive through the narrow alleyways was an experience in itself. We ate at a small local restaurant owned by Scottish Billy who was the coolest chef/waiter around ...

... after. I spurted out a pathetic cough and shook it off like it was totally cool, and rather hastily headed back to the warm sand. Stocked up on the Portuguese equivalent of sudafed, cold & flu tabs and were ready for the next day. Now, I have a bit of a cold, but poor Jed is rough with the whole conjunctivitis milarky! Now I can't speak for him, but I know when I feel like **** I want to be in my bed, and curl into a ball. Well, not really an ...

    Great seaviews and friendly people

We had a lovely experience, its true the hill down to the beach and back made our legs ache but it was really worth it for the views. food was really good although the tinned fruit for breakfast should have been fresh but plenty of other choices and evening meal always tasty. A very clean hotel all apart from the mouldy bath mats which we put out of sight! Great location fot shops, bars and entertainment.Would recommend it for anyone who is able to climb hills.

Translated means INN ON THE HILL

September 2004 First immpression was not good. Rooms are a mixture of size and after complaining about being put into a shoebox sixe room was given one of the suites. We went bed & breakfast but after the first two mornings got fed up of the tinned fruit and watery scrammbled egg. Cuisine was very poor. Location is not reccomended for the less mobile as there is a very steep pathway that leads down to the strip where all the shops and restaurants are. I think that one week is more than enough at this so called four start hotel. I personally would rate it at a two and a half star. The minature pool water was very very cold even on a hot day hence we only went there twice. Definatley was not a holiday from hell and if they spent a little more effort in the kitchen and kept the bar open beyond midnight as well as heating the pool, would make it a very pleasant stay.

Resort was fantastic with plenty of restaurants to choose lovely food. Would only go back for a short break to this Hotel but would go on a long holiday to this resort. Overall worth considering but only if you could get a really good deal.

Would not go back to estalagem

We arrived at this pleasent hotel at 23.00 the bar was open with only the minimal items on offer alcholol, toasties or crisps and we found out the bar closes even to residents at 12.30 every night!.After a firly long trip a coffee would have been good. The rooms pleasent enough but only one pillow each and i require 4 or 5 due to health and the porter could not provide anymore. In the decripton we need a fridge again due to medication i require one we had to wait three days for one and pay 5 euros per day to get it.We explored the hotel next day to use the publised leasure facilities only to find they where charged per item for 15 mins not included. The swimming pool was ok and the are around pool was pleasent enough with a cafe opening up at around 11a.m and closing at 18.00hrs along with the pool table area so no family tournaments in the evening. The breakfast was the most boring i have ever seen they only use tinned friut! despite the readily availabe lovely friut the juice and coffee was often tilted so you could get the dreggs rather than fresh. One day the juice machine was pulled over by a child the next day the coffee urn was pulled over by an adult health and safety would have a feild day kim ferry

A friendly, pleasant hotel with great staff.

We have holidayed twice at the Do Cerro and have just booked up to go there again - need I say any more!

The hotel is bright, clean and above all has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant has plenty of choice, and there is nightly entertainment in the bar for everyone. I can wait to go again next year!

    Clean hotel - quiet location

had a very delightful stay towards the end of march. We were very lucky to have great weather but despite this we found the hotel great value, very clean with good facilities in a quiet location. You had a climb down to the old town but despite this it was nice to be away from the activities. At times the food became a little sparse but there was a good mixture of waitress and self service available on alternate nights. I would return if I could guarantee a sea view which we had.

    Excellent Hotel

Didn't know where we were staying so it was a lovely surprise to arrive at the Do Cerra. Food was very good, a lot of choices. Rooms and general surroundings were clean and well maintained. Good view of the bay from the balcony. Will certainly go back in the future.

    A very friendly hotel.

Nice hotel, very nice staff. Excellent entertainment. Carlos is a very good example who plays there on Sunday and Wednesday nights.Downstairs rooms are quite poor but above that level good. School every morning is distracting but they have to be tought somewhere. The walk to the beech and back is arduous but also good fun.Would thorughly recommend to anyone who is there to have a good time and look at the positives. We go back every year and if we can't stay there pop back in to see Carlos, Manwel and all the crew.

    Pleasant Surprise

First stay at this Hotel. January 2004. Staff were friendly and very helpfull. Rooms comfortable and clean, although the central heating could be more user friendly and work efficiently. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate and the evening meals varied between buffet and waitress service. Choice of menu good. Added attraction was entertainment in the lounge every evening.

Location, at the top of the town, so for anyone with walking difficulties this could be a problem. Although I have a breathing problem found the decent to the beaches easy enough, all down hill.

Coming back it was necessary to use a taxi, but at 5 Euros (3 UK)approx not expensive.

Yes I would stay there again.

    Loved the do cerro

This hotel is excellent and one of the best we've stayed in. We have been all round the world and have stayed at the Do Cerro 5 times. We will go back time and time again. I don't know how an American can criticise this hotel. It beats American hotels by far. The Do Cerro is very clean, the staff are very friendly and the food is lovely. The pool is clean. They are fantastic with children and the walk to the beach is lovely and good exercise.

It was disgusting, I wouldnt send the dog there

This hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. The food was disgusting, no choices, and who doesnt serve water with the meals, it cost you to drink a glass.of water? How unsanitary that the towels were changed every 3 days, I told the manager, no way.! The mat in the tub was black, mildew or mold,I took no chances, had it changed. We ate out most nights, who needs a buffet for dinner? And why is the hotel next to a school? My sister was awakened everymorning to kids yelling and screaming. Also, the old people cannot possibly get to the beach. The pool was full of leaves, and the chase lounges were so dirty. Pull it down and start again, closer to the beach. It was like walking back up the north face of the eiger every time you had to come back. Not for me.
