Dinner in St Chely was a stand out. Sandra ordered Porc Pied for an entree which turned out to be deep fried gelatine. I guess from the pigs foot. I helped out by eating some. Interesting texture and taste. The waitress was lovely. She saw where I had split wine on the table cloth and said "mistake!" I pointed out what Steve had ...

... along. The village looks quite large but only has 80, mostly elderly, residents.

Wow - number 1 village by far.  As you will see in some of the photo's the properties and views are stunning.  We wandered in and around many of the cobble stone type streets, through small tunnels and passageways.   There is a reason they have all non residents park in one spot at the bottom as the narrow 'roads' would be a nightmare for a non-resident to manage. Walking was a balancing act in ...

I had read a good article in the SMH traveller on the Clermont-Ferrand area a few months back on its' great cheese and wine yet it was off the tourist trail. Tick and tick. Then we learnt the area was full of of chateaux's. Extra tick. With a map of the local area dedicated solely to the cheese and chateau trail, life today wasn't going to be too tough. Unfortunately we've lost the pictures for this area so describing what we saw and did will have to ...
