To Nantes on the TGV which is not so impressive these days, dirty carpets, broken seats.
Our hotel was handy to Centrum and the station, so could walk everywhere. Needless to say, even the boneheads at Garmin can't differentiate the standard of one D road to another, neither can I. It could be brilliant or a complete patchwork quilt, it's a lottery.
The day was dull and overcast but dry.
Me and Will set off, bright and early, about 12.30pm, grabbed an N road out of Nantes and then hit the D roads.
Absolutely brilliant but we had some mileage to do.....
... by and ask for help. I was in the middle of nowhere and there was no cars passing by. Okay, let's have some coffee. I got everything with me to make some. After two coffees a friendly french guy stopped and asked if he could help me out. 'Yes please!' With the two of us, we had the motor back on the road in no time. 'Merci beaucoup, Monsieur! Vous voulez un cafée?'

... it was really for walking but it would take you two days to walk around. We also saw a Battleship and Loire River and amazing barge boats and modern tourists boats, goats and gardens and chicks, (the feathered kind). We set off at 9am and got back at 3.30pm and apart from lunch and seeing the machines we were riding the rest of the time. Not hard riding, just enjoyable meandering riding. Not a bad way to see a ...
