Our target for the day was to explore the Auvergne area, and see the landscapes with more than 400 volcanoes. Some of the volcanoes are as old as 65 million years, and the youngest about 7'600 years.

... out to watch the elaborate set and performers. Christine advises that there was a story within all the music and acrobatics - it was news to me. Much like the 'stories' within a Cirque show. Event was fine and I appreciated the music and the structure they performed on. The mediocre acrobatics were a bit too simple but hey I would not dare try any of it ...

So off we went, without cheese but with a bird, back towards our destination Lempdes Sur Allagnon to camp for the night. Back on the main road, we saw a sign – Gaec Clavel Fromagerie. Andy excitedly did a U-Turn, knowing we’d found a local cheesemaker we could taste the cheese we’d been chasing today, and we headed up the driveway of the farm.

... the place where people get maps if the hike closes - priceless. We bundled up and headed out hoping we would not be blown away or rained heavily upon. We saw some cows just off the path all chewing grass and making lots of noise with the bells on their necks. And a bit further north again......seeking climbing. The book says it's rich pickings around here in this small ski resort. It probably is......but we didn't hang aground to find out. It dropped to about 4 deg at night and we woke up in the clouds.......and rain. So we moved on again.
