... who offers no English, I can even get by with menial chit chat and on a good day I can even add a dash of humour. Not real humour of course, not the kind of wit I offer in English that can split a man’s sides right open, but enough so that the listener can assess by the gimpish look on my face that I’ve told a funny and I expect reparations in the form of polite laughter.
