Finalmente! At the lounge. Caught 12.20 bus out to Malpensa. Took 10 minutes to walk to the Metro, catch the train and get on the express bus. So far so good. The bus drives through some awful suburbs. Challenge one. Italian chick for Qatar - and it was my fault for being in the wrong line - tried to tell me I couldn't take my 11kg hand luggage on board. She had to retract when I said I was ...

Pottered about the little town of Pella near to where we are staying. Sat on wooden bench on quayside scoffing a gelato each like oldies do apparently. Delightful. The island itself consists of a central monastery inhabited by nuns ...

... you nuts but at least tolls are fairly cheap in Italy. Worth it though for this place. Arrived early and so spent a while in the town of Orta on the east side of the lake, very beautiful indeed and full of Americans with their name tags around their necks, good idea really - see pics. Got strange attack of paranoia after parking car and became convinced that a rather shifty bloke ...

Hotel Splendid where we are staying at Lake Maggiore is just that. We are all feeling very luxurious, from the bar to our rooms. Today we drive back to Lake Como and rather than do the boat tour of the lake, which is really a who's who of palatial homes. We hopped on ...
