Straggling into the last leg of our trip, we were grateful to find a lovely villa - Villa Ermenlinda - as our landing pad. Quick flight from Amsterdam to Milan then about a 60 Km drive to the villa. Truly wonderful it has 6 bedrooms and a view of Lake Maggiore that is breathtaking. Fortunately, the heat wave broke so the days are pleasantly warm , helped out by the breezes from the Swiss Alps just north of us. We hear the train to Milan going by often ...

... Milan to Dubai. p.s. Two Chinese young men have just sat at the table next to me. With broken english they ordered spaghetti bolognese and spaghetti carbonara. When their meal arrived the look on their face was priceless. The entertainment has just begun as they do not know how to eat these extremely long noodles of spaghetti. According to my pedometer, travelling 12.3 kilometres. I did not see every pavilion as this time ...

Day 38 It seems strange this morning not to get dressed in riding gear and have to rush to pack my bags. I wandered down to breakfast at 8:40am to say good by to those that were leaving today. It was another very hot day so I decided to have a true rest day and stay in the hotel precinct and catch up on emails and my blog. This plan did not eventuate, as Apple had released ...

Day 37 Our last day riding. We had 305km to travel today. We set off from our palacious nights stay at 9am and headed East to the Italian border at Col Angel Pass, 2744 meters ( third highest pass in the alps). The traffic on this pass was much lighter than previous passes and the open scenery made this last pass of the tour very enjoyable. At the summit of the pass I stood with one foot in France and the other in Italy. It was considerably cooker at this altitude which ...
