... impressive sight in bloom. The weather has been sunny and warm, more spring-like than we imagined. Trees are beginning to flower, birds are chirping and building nests, and as I sit looking out through the open French doors to the fields below I try hard not to think of the snow at home. A lot of melting and drying out needs to happen before April 13th when we drive over from Halifax and open up the cottage on Panmure. Our ...

      Wednesday 20 April

Drove into Port Vendres for a stroll and a coffee, then out via Collioure. We wantd to go to St Nazaire d’Aude, because we’d discovered it was the subject of the big painting on our wall at home. We found the exact view to photograph! For an overnight ...

... to sit in the sun in a natural clearing in the forest and I could see what looked like the last farm house in the valley. Everyone out there seemed to be busy chopping wood, pruning trees or harvesting vegetables, a simple life that didn’t require work shirts and ties or regular trips to town. All the ‘farmers’ have cars but only for a weekly visit to get the essentials at the market and otherwise they got on with growing their own food, keeping their houses standing ...
