    Wonderful and Cheap

Arrived late and because of the price thought we would be staying somewhere a pretty dodgy, but were pleasantly surprised by how modern, clean and roomy the hotel was. It had a really nice pool and outdoor area and the rooms were very nicely furnished and spottlesly clean. The staff were helpful and seemed really nice. I would definently recommend staying here.

Last day in Palenque. Which means the dreaded task of packing all our stuff away in that little back pack again! Not one of our favourite parts of the trip but nevertheless it has to be done as check out is quickly approaching. Again the hotel staff were great and allowed us to leave our bags in safe storage as we wasn't leaving until later that …

... had a stand-off with a Mexican squirrel like-racoon, which was better than having a Mexican stand-off with a furry friend. I was out on the veranda and then a four legged animal stopped, sensing another being and looked in my direction. It was too dark to make it out then, but I stared in its direction and tried to seem scary, before darting into my friend and slamming the door shut, before locking it. Tomorrow morning I would see the animal in its flesh; a ...

We head over to the friendly Chely’s first where I have my first coffee in Mexico and its pretty good. The bartender even made it look pretty. Hinesh has his Bohemia Claro beer and together we look for our new home in San Cristobal. We decide to go with Airbnb again and fingers crossed that this private room will have a door in the bathroom. We have a ...

... hippies staying in the park, people who looked like they had been living there off a dollar a day for a year! I did feel a little left out being the only one without dreds.

We jumped on the bus in the morning with our tour group and went to see the ruins. Palenque has a lot more visitors than Tikal and was completely different. The grounds are all well maintained and beside each ruined building there was a board, explaining what ...
