He also confirmed our own feeling that it has been a terrible year for the French tourism industry - just no tourists this year. ... then (I think because I had been pushing my french a bit more) she started to warm up! By the time we left (with a few bottles) she had apologised for the weather and was wishing us the best for the remainder of the trip!Back to the campsite (via the petrol station, as the car was SUPER low on gas) and we decided to just set up - the weather didn't look like it was going to improve... Bought some bubbly in Reims then on to Chalons-en-Champagne. Lovely town with two large churches as usual. The Notre-Dame De L'Epine dated back 1405 the Cathedrale St Etienne dated back 1230.
