      ... walking around this town, and seeing all the young Greeks sitting in cafes, all the shops that shut between 12:30 and 3-ish, then we were wondering how bad was the GFC affecting them?

      Another thing that we are noticing in Greece is how everything shuts during the off-season. Thankfully, all the museums, etc are open, but campgrounds and tourist-focussed shops are closed. Even a lot of eateries are shut. This could turn out be a bit of a problem for us.

      Today dawned bright and sunny, and relatively warm after the icy wind of the past two or three days, and it certainly made a huge difference to the appearance of the town. The sun sparkled on the wet cobblestone streets, and fairly bounced off the creamy brown brickwork of most of the buildings.       ... of note and beauty to Joy to study and write about.....but this one small painting was in her head.

      3 hours later she wandered out the gallery, tablet full of notes,head full of colours, compositions, brush strokes etc., and Bianca Sforza....and strolled down the hill to meet Michael for lunch.

      Just to finish off the entry for last nights New Year dinner, we were going to translate the menu for you, but thought sod it, why should we do all the work? After all, we are the ones on holiday!
      Suffice to say, there was pasta, soup, wild boar, sausage, pork, salad, bread, vegetables and amaretto ice cream, in any order you wish to put them. Plus two wines coffee and water....

      ... sitting with a mouthful of it (halfway through it) trying to swallow it but not able to squeeze it down into any spare digestive space. We swore we wouldn't need to eat for a week!!

      At 11.56 all dirty crockery was cleared, an espresso was brought, and drunk, and our glasses were filled with bubbly as the bells chimed midnight and the band in the square outside started up .....magic experience.
