... I met in a hostel. I did a bit of research and found it got some good reviews so I decided to add it to my itinerary.

The journey from Tucumán was stunning (how many times have I used that word in my blog – I apologise, but if you saw it you'd agree). In Tucumán itself it was raining and dull but as we drove through the narrow gorge of the Rio de los Sosas, surrounded by subtropical rainforest we were climbing ...

17th May

We came to San Miguel de Tucuman as a last minute decision, only because from Cafayate has no direct buses to Cordoba, our next planned destination! It wasn´t such a surprise that the town has not so much to do here considering that only one of our travel guides actually lists it at all! However, we have only ourselves to blame for how long we actually spent here!
The first night was a given, considering that we had been on the bus almost all day and ...

... that we'd wait til Mexico for my teeth, if ever. It was still a great experience to see the inner workings of health care here.
No one charged us anything for a consult! That would be $80 dollars in the US, just to get seen.
We'd huddle in the tv room which had an electric heater and watch ****** tv.

With no responsibilities, and a town that had nice cafes and walkways but no pretty scenery we were free to move on!

... Tafi del Valle. The journey was on one of the windiest roads I've ever been on - I still can't believe that the driver managed to get the bus round some of the corners! The temperature difference 3000ft up made me wish I'd taken my jumper with me but after a 2 and a half hour journey it was a little too late to worry about that! The town was very quaint and didn't have a lot happening - lots of shops selling handmade goods. I did see my first Llamas ...
