    ... What was even worst, the things he said were absolutely stupid and his wife hardly ever said a word - he would simply not let her. He was the most important person on the planet and what he thought and said were the words of God.

    When I arrived at the train station in Bratislava I immediately wanted to leave again. Small, loud, dirty and I felt reminded of some of the bus stations in South America where all i wanted was to hide.

    ... is one entrance called the gate of St Michael, this was one of the first stops on the tour. Walking through the gate was like stepping back in time with the cobbled streets and rickety old buildings. There are also quite a few sculptures scattered around the town which made for some fun photos. We went up to the local castle (we're not quite sure what it's called) no one lives ...

    ... After dropping our bags we went into the historic centre and found Bratislava is actually really lovely. Apparently it was a match to Prague in its pretty buildings and churches etc, but the varying histories under the Communists meant Prague was maintained as a pristine historic city while Bratislava was 'modernised', which for Communists meant building motorways through parts of the medieval city, ripping down walls and generally messing it ...

    Deciding after our little burst of physical activity we needed lunch, we headed back into the city to find a spot with Slovakian fare for lunch.
