The weather travelling was very mixed starting off dry but just after leaving Maastricht it went quite dark so we kitted up in “oilies” and we did need them. At one stage we steered from inside.

... the huge resurrected statue of the Kaiser William the First which now portrays the concept of German Unity and marks the confluence of these two rivers. We also found the brass thumb for a funny photo. Then we had to go into the old town to search for Nile’s favorite cigar- and whisky-shop. We did locate it, but it was closed (Sunday).
