... worth it, you really get a sense of what it would be like to be a Jewish person in hiding during WW2 as the tragic story of Anne Frank is so well documented and preserved in Amsterdam. After the history lesson we checked out the Heineken Experience tour at the beer factory. We learned all about the history and process of brewing Heineken beer (the secret is the special 'A Yeast' that they use to ferment the barley and hops) and the tour ended with drinking a few ...

He was a troubled soul and died two days after shooting himself in a field at the age of 37. Now his work is worth millions. We popped in for a second look at the local markets, having enjoyed a quick wander that we'd had on our first day. There was heaps of fresh fruit and veggies, cheese and olives and also clothes and trinkets and all things nice. We tried ...

We walked through some different areas today, checking out a few more chocolatiers but not buying anything. We had coffee in this amazing Ethiopian shop that does single-origin coffee and roasts their own beans. Nate liked it so much he got 2 bags to bring home - washed and unwashed beans. We've never seen unwashed before but it tasted really good. We also ...

... when you leave. We had a drink in a bar and then went back to the hotel, so not a late night by any stretch but lots later than we'd managed previously!

      Day 14

Today we headed to Berlin. Our train wasn't until 3pm, so we wandered around Amsterdam in the morning sun after we checked out of our hotel. It was lovely actually, a lot calmer and less crowded than later in the day. We saw some canals we hadn't seen before and had lunch ...
