Tried to get on internet to rebook train and the whole network was down. We were booked for a walking tour this morning which we had to bail on as no way of contacting the tour operator. Caught a vaporetto back to the station and tried to book new trip to Rome at a kiosk, but no payments were being processed. Aieeeee. Finally had to take a number ...

Up at 5.00am (yuck) , left Dubai and arrived in Venice about 2.15pm. Amazing!!! We were met by a nice lady and taken to a water taxi. Amazing! It was a speed boat and took about 30 minutes to arrive at Venice and short walk to our hotel. Venice is amazing and so beautiful. We checked in to a very small room and then went walking to St Marks Square Had a lovely coffee at a restaurant and they made a weak one for me. Amazing! I love Venice. ...

It is a very interesting city and very unique, it was a relief not having cars driving around as the Italians are absolutely chaotic drivers. Once out of the main square which was great but very crowed, we wandered the streets and canals and ended up accidentally at the main bridge which is ...

... located right on a side canal. The location could not have been more perfect. It was an easy 5-10 minute walk from the train station. The hotel was a bit older, but our room was great. It was decorated in antique ornate furnishings... but the best part?!?! Our own personal patio. It was HUGE!!! This is where we spent most of our time (afternoons and evenings) in Venice- playing rummy on the patio, drinking Proseco ...
