    ... constitutes as new, as we had heard otherwise. Off we set, early to allow time for delays, especially at the border - which came up quicker than we expected! Passports at the ready, insurance papers galore out as we approached a small and very quiet (compared to others) border control.     Landing in Tirana, we taxied to the gate and then took a bus the 200 yards to the door. Since we were business class, we got a bus to ourselves. So we were first in line for immigration. My daughter’s immigration office was busy on the phone and doing personal things so it took her longer to get through but she got a stamp.     ... shops that all basically sell the same thing every 15 metres. It was interesting making the 25 minute walk to the fortress and we stopped in to buy an umbrella from a toy shop.

    We finally reached the entrance to the fortress – a dug up road with no path. We trekked up and finally reached this stunning castle that looked like it would have been home in Scotland.     ... a walking tour of the city.  Bad idea after only getting 3 hours sleep the night before and still feeling tipsy.  Some people missed out and slept off last night.  During the tour we passed a pizza stand and 10 of us cleaned out the racks of thin crust pepperoni.  After the tour we had some time to kill before the boat cruise so we did what any other tourist!  The the shops had all the same stuff and if I saw something cool, it was made of glass ...

By this time we were scrabbling over very slippery limestone, moss covered rocks, the track appeared to disappear into the stream itself and it was getting late so we gave up on that idea and returned to the car before it got dark.
