We had a crazy busy day today with a trip with Aldo DV up the mountain to above Viano in Switzerland to see Nonno and Bobs old houses. This was a grand trek of switch back roads and scary drops but Aldo took it in his stride and we arrived safe above the snow line to admire sweeping vies of the mountains and valleys and breath taking vistas of far away cabins. Elisa enjoyed talking with Joe and Guido filled in some of the family history for us again. We enjoyed another sumptuous repast with wonderful fresh lasagna and Tirimisu and then Monica and I headed for the hills to walk to Barrufini in a pair of Monica's shoes. It was a wonderful ...

This morning we headed off to St Mouritz with Luisa and Laura to discover how the rich and famous live. A wonderful but slow drive through the Brennan? Pass where snow had fallen over night. It hit -6 in the middle of the pass but was a balmy 3 when we arrived to a very quiet town as everything shut down for Easter Friday. We wandered about for a short while checking out the posh hotels and the horses ...

... English to make things a bit easier. A blur of activities followed with a huge meal of the usual three courses of cishul made from buckwheat flour mixed with white flour and Parmesan cheese and the usual tonne of butter. Lovely of course. Served with a green insalate of cos and radicchio dressed with oil and vinegar made a simple yet elegant salad. There was also some sort of quiche and many condiments unknown to me. Served with home made wine which is strong to taste and ...
