... Had a typically German meal with beer of course.
Spent the next morning slowly meandering through the old town and stopping for schneeballe (sweet pastry balls) and bratwurst rolls. I got totally carried away taking photos!

... painted houses - the boys kept singing the Welcome to Duloc song off Shrek as that's what the town looks like. We had a look round the shops and of course had to buy some Christmas decorations from the original german Christmas Shop. Again had lots of tasty german food, walked in the park and along the city walls. Final stop Belgium ...
... we did eat at a little cafe - Roma Pizza that was recommended in the Rick Steves travel guide. The food was excellent from the tomato cream soup to the salad to the tortellinni to the pizza. Pizza with spicy pepperoni and Gorgonzola cheese. And, if it's possible, the prices were just as impressive. You gotta eat here!!
We returned to Speyer by 6:00 after setting up a train trip to Cologne tomorrow.

We traveled back home to Darmstadt where we stayed about 2 hours. Then we drove 2 1/2 hours to Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. We checked into the hotel, ate dinner and then went on a Night Watchman Tour where we were introduced to the the history of the town in a fun and entertaining hour.
