... 2 hours at Pompeii walking through the ruins, hearing about how the town has been (and continues to be) restored. Then it's back on the coach for our final leg to Maiori on the Amalfi coast. I didn't know much about this part of Italy before coming on this trip, only that there were lots of holiday villages along the coast. We found the shops where I did a lot of damage last year.... and walking in with a "whew, at last, the best shop", we both thought internally. ... Time to return, walk back up to the road and wait for a bus ride back. Once back at apartment, we are able to reach Beth Forsyth so we can ask about Duke & Ella. They are doing great, watching birds out the windows all day, Ella follows Sam around and Duke stays with Beth when they are home from work/school. Cats have had no fights, no jealousy, must like having a place to themselves all day.

... closed luckily a little shop across the street was opened. We had a Margarita Pizza and another one with mushrooms and Prosciutto, a bottle of wine and tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella salad. All were fantastic. It was very late and I was disgusted by the outdoors so we did not take a midnight stroll just a walk back to our hostel where we went to sleep in anticipation for the following day. Boy did we need ...

... zagging from one side to the other, weaving its way up between the houses - on the GPS screen it looked very much like an earthquake tremour graph! And still the golden sunset views were relentlessly awing us until we finally made it all the way up, leaving it shimmering on the other side as we wound our way into the evening side of town. We were so impressed with the scenic drive, it was much ...
