    Good Room

We have been told not to expect too much of the hotels in Switzerland. The Hotel Baren proved to be an exception to this. It has good sized bed, bath and sitting rooms and a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains behind St. Moritz.

The food was OK but not what I would normally order (Broccoli soup, ham and turkey and fruit salad).

There is no internet in the room but it is available in the lobby.

Up early with bags out at 6.30, loaded on the bus but 1 was missing, had to find him, underway 15 mins late.
The Austria n's have an awesome motorway system either building bridges to go over or tunnels to go through, the longest tunnel was, 6,995 meters. Over the border and into Switzerland, this process is now basically a formality, but the …

    The Glacier Express

A travel blog entry by a.baker.abroad on Jun 08, 2015

We woke early in Zermatt to check out, take in one last look around the beautiful little town and jump about the famous Glacier Express train along UNESCO heritage railways to our final destination of St Moritz. Along the way there was endless picturesque scenery from snow capped mountains to summer green fields and typically Swiss towns all along the route. We arrived in St Moritz late in the afternoon and settled into our hostel for another relaxing ...

... back in time. The dominance of the mountains over this city was breathtaking. Hard to believe we're here in real time. We dined in the hotel restaurant in which the meal was poor as it was a set menu. But it's food & fills a hole. At least we're back into Euro territory with no more use for the expensive Swiss franc. Things are becoming cheaper. It was nearly 10pm before we retired to bed. Guten ...

... excited Americans. The train has stopped at Miralago and it seems we will be here for a while longer as one of the bright sparks just hit the emergency stop button thinking it was the door release. And now we are going again and another one has hit the emergency stop! The train didn't stop though so they must have that happen a lot. I wonder what happens if there really is an emergency though?

The train climbs and climbs past green meadows filled ...

    Chur, Switzerland - Day 8

Today was the worst and best day of the trip. As most of you know, my beloved alpha cat Hazel was missing for 2 days. Mike, Colette and I were so sad and concerned and poor Kaylin felt even worse. A very sleepless night last night and a quiet and rainy ride in the car down to Chur today. The hotel we're staying in is really cool - very contemporary - everything is black and white and very austere. Kaylin and Kristy (and ...
