    Good Room

We have been told not to expect too much of the hotels in Switzerland. The Hotel Baren proved to be an exception to this. It has good sized bed, bath and sitting rooms and a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains behind St. Moritz.

The food was OK but not what I would normally order (Broccoli soup, ham and turkey and fruit salad).

There is no internet in the room but it is available in the lobby.

As we progressed the weather got hotter and hotter until we were really starting to need cooling down. We eventually came across a small mountain stream where we managed to find a reasonably comfortable picnic site. Here we ate whilst soaking our feet in the ice cold water.

... and I were soon left behind by the group and all of my concentration was on the very slow rider in front. He was getting very tired from riding in the heat and the concentration he was putting into staying on the road. If possible his ability at holding a decent line in corner deteriorated and he started putting his feet down as he approached each turn. I knew this was a recipe for disaster as he therefore did not have a foot covering the rear brake. ...

At last a rest day. Today we did absolutely nothing apart from a 20 km round trip to St. Moritz to do some shopping. This is actually nothing these days. It was very hot so we did swim a bit in the lake. We also caught up on book work and spent some time doing ...
