      Good Room

We have been told not to expect too much of the hotels in Switzerland. The Hotel Baren proved to be an exception to this. It has good sized bed, bath and sitting rooms and a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains behind St. Moritz.

The food was OK but not what I would normally order (Broccoli soup, ham and turkey and fruit salad).

There is no internet in the room but it is available in the lobby.

... my mum worked for 6 months when she was a little older than me. We went back to their house for a beautiful cooked lunch followed by dessert of cherries and cream! Afterwards Dario and Claudia took us up to our family house in the mountains- the equivalent of a Bach in NZ 'Cansume'. It was just as I remembered it- so beautiful. We walked around for a while and the view is just incredible! Ilaria picked us up in the afternoon and we went ...

When we got home we all just relaxed as we were all tired from the big day. For dinner we had a light meal as we were still full from lunch. We had local pasta from Poschiavo with a cherry tomato sauce. For dessert we had stewed apples with cinnamon. After dinner we packed our bags so that we will be ready to leave in the ...

... we went higher and higher on the worlds slowest express train. The steep, slow, winding track affords so many vistas that we were running from side to side of the train, gasping at every turn and bend. Luckily our carriage was nearly empty so we and a few others could do this.
We were lucky enough to see most of the glacier, but turn your back and it's enveloped in cloud again. Over the actual Bernina pass ...

I also notice several interracial couples--a Swiss man or woman with an Asian or African spouse--extremely attractive spouses, I might add. Swiss have a high standard for physical beauty as well, perhaps?... I would like to hope that what I am seeing is the future of Switzerland: a more racially diverse country--but still holding to its high standards, as the ...

... and scree came tumbling down the moutainside at some point, and it looks like more could come at any time. So I cross the river once again, and pose for my videoclip with the village and the cliff in the background, then go for a closer look. Well... it's not as bad as it seems. The cliff is a little ways back, so it's doubful that, even if another landslide came it would do direct damage to the village. Still looks pretty weird ...
