1273. End of the Superhike, for Now (Spain 077) Velez Malaga, June 22, 2012, Day 102 8 hours, 16.3 kms Next morning I’m very, very sore. After a nearly 40 km hike in scorching heat, up steep hills, wearing lousy shoes I think I kind of overdid it yesterday, and now I’m going to have to really slow down my pace to recover. I do need to take advantage of the cooler morning hours, so I head on my way and before too long I’m approaching Malaga proper. To ...

    Home away from home!

... Juan has presented me with more yoghurts, as well as a birds of paradise flower left on my door step! I must look undernourished! I have to say it's not exactly a dark cloud really, but it would be nicer if he was a hot young Spanish man instead...! I also fell in love with a stray dog who lives on the site. After ...

... outside my bedroom door and I'm just not good with stuff like that! I have started Spanish lessons this week at a basic level. Its going ok so far. The lessons are in Spanish so I only understand some of what is being said but I'm getting there. The class is a real mix of nationalities so its really good to meet some new people. Gareth has also joined the same centre as me, but a group higher as he's way ahead of me. This is basically because he practises ...

... the trains that rattled quite frequently, along a railway line that we hadn’t even noticed.

The next day our destination was Camping Roquetas on the Almerian coast, in Roquetas De Mar, which has a 3km, coarse sandy beach backed by an attractive promenade and is well known for its many water sports facilities like water-skiing, jet skiing, fishing and yachting although none of these were taken up by our good selves because we preferred to meander along slowly on ...
