Stayed two nights at this hotel (as part of an organised tour). The building is modern and seemed very new. I was part of a triple and the hotel accommodated us in a very large room with lots of huge windows overlooking the street.

The hotel was in a very central location and it was very easy to walk to restaurants, shopping, the train station and the old town.

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. You could open the windows. The bathroom was also spacious and fairly luxurious.

Breakfast was included and there was a large selection of food to choose from.

Free wifi was available in the rooms and lobby.

Nice modern hotel in an excellent location. Just a short walk across the old wooden covered bridge to the historic area of Lucerne. Only negative is the hotel did not have free WiFi in the guest rooms or the reception area.

8.00am start on a local bus to the town of Stans. Freezing cold morning and the weather was not very kind to us as we were embarking on a scenic journey by funicular railway and a open-top cable car.( the first one of a kind in the world, which we soon discovered was so quite and smooth with a stair case going up so those who wanted to could stand …

7.15am start as today is a long drive to Lucerne passing through the Italian Lake District en route to Switzerland. Absolutely beautiful scenery.

Lots of tunnels (168) with the longest tunnel being 18 kilometres.

Morning tea was in Italy which was a joke. Lunch in Swittzerland was a whole lot different. Freshly stir fry cooked …

... 8212;one that sold ridiculously trashy clothing for extremely high prices.

We went back to the hostel for a break and to get ready for the Opera. We got dressed up, and even though most of the other students were wearing jeans, everyone else was dressed to the nines. Lisa and I walked through Old Town to the Opera House and punched the button at 7:00 for student tickets. We were the third group in line, but another ...

          Journey to Interlaken

A travel blog entry by kaddison

... it had to wait for 5 or 10 minutes for another train to pass, saying to “please excuse them for the delay.” Being Swiss, the train was still only 1 minute late in the end. When Lisa and I arrived in Interlaken, we were disappointed to find out that the funicular we had been told to take up the mountain to the gondola was closed for the winter. Instead, we walked around the town of Interlaken, which was covered in snow ...
