After getting use to the sound of hoot owls in the night we slept in until 8:00am this morning. We awoke to a low cloud level and cool temperatures but the promise of a sunny day lay ahead. After a pot of coffee (loved that after a month of espressos) and a light breakfast, we took a walk through the village of Noves.

No stalls at the side of the road piled with oranges, no rhyming street names and no houses painted orange, I mean ...

... spent all day there. One thing we have already discovered is that the French do museums and historical presentations really well, using all the latest technology. Out in the open air again, we walked through the park to see this incredible structure that has spanned the River Gardon for over 2000 years. It is simply huge. At 275 metres long and nearly as high as the Colosseum its size is overwhelming and impressive. We walked along the river on the ...

A number of the older residents seem to use it as a meeting place to pass the time. Airconditioned and clean.
