July 12th - Today we got up early as we had to meet at 6:30 a.m. to take the C-Train into City Center in Calgary to line up for the Chuck Wagon Parade through the city streets for about an hour. They take the first 100 people and we all made it all 48 of us. Throughout the city for the whole 10 days they have several venues where you can line up to get free pancakes and bacon. June 4th is Colin's birthday
Colin's birthday present from me on the way home is a stop off at Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales for two nights to re-couperate from jet lag in luxury. It saves us having to un-pack, go shopping, do laundry, open the post, answer telephone calls or the door for another two days.....................bliss we can just sleep!!!! ...
... as I fought with the masses of locals and travelers alike for space on the pier, in line, on the boat, then off the boat, grabbing luggage and then transferring to the bus. But what patience I had left rewarded me with a choice seat where I have enjoyed yet more spectacular views and here I sit fully reclined in the last half empty bus heading north. ... miscalculated the number of days we had left and decided we still had time to see Calgary, so turned the car around! We took the #1 Trans Canada Highway and passed through Canmore.
We arrived in Calgary around 2:30 and found a parking complex near the Calgary Tower. Here we left the car and made our way into the complex. We decided to come back for dinner at the revolving restaurant at the tower.
