... it was the weekend and very soon after New Year's Day.

I missed out on seeing the Gardens and the Castle as I arrived late and they'd already done it.

From here we also did a half-day trip to Arles - see next entry.
There are other smaller villages around to do day trips to/from, such as Avignon.
Marseilles and Montpelier are also 2-3 hours away by train.

I do order the "pieds et paquets", the regional specialty, and Patti orders the alouette farci which as best we can tell is a form of the italian dish brasciole, which it turns out it is. So I am glad I finally tried this dish, the "pied" part and the sauce was really delicious but the "paquet" part was just so-so. A bit on the tough side. ...
