So annoyed
... I found out that I can graduate at the end of summer! WOOO!! FINALLY I'LL BE DONE!! But wait, the courses I need require a software from NMU that "can only be put on your computer if you come to NMU help desk..." WTF?! This is 2012 isn't it?? We can stream video conferences live to people 5000 miles away but we can't get a download? And we can't even get a license for the download so you can get it from the company??? I need 3 courses to graduate, GIS, Quant, and Calc... should ...

... of the tanks has an area for breeding which was cool to see where the eggs were laid. In the research building they have special tanks for the young turtles with some pretty fancy equipment like thermostat run heat lamps. They also have a rare species of sloth in captivity there. She was rescued and they are observing her. We got to get up close and check her out which was really cool. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me on monday so hopefully ...

... en straatkraampjes in de supersmalle en superdrukke “Rua 13 de Maio” (Mayo?!) verkocht worden. De ene paraplu winkel na de andere (hmm…zou dit een hint zijn?) wordt afgewisseld met hele straten vol carnavalswinkels. Het walhalla voor de brabo’s onder ons danwel de matjes- en campingdisco fans ;-)!

Amazon, nice to meet you!!
... of hammocks for the Amazon boat ride and then visited an old Cathedral (take note all mothers, grandmothers, and all devoutly religious) and then visited an old castle (slightly disappointing). After that we made our way back to the old port, got dinner and made our way back to the bus station, grabbed our bags and made our way to the airport to catch our flight.....had a good day in Belem, next stop Santarem!!

... we caught one of the buses literally running down the beach and made our way to the bus station in Salinas where a taxi driver offered to take us back to Belem for R$30 a head. It did not take much working out that this would be preferable for waiting for the bus, saving just a few reals and enduring long stops along the way.
