Brugge - what a place! Not the kind of town you would expect to be able to spend a week in and find enough to do but after 6 days there is still plenty to do and see.
I write this on Friday sitting in the De Halve Maan brewery where they make a couple of the best beers around and seriously strong, some up to %11. The brewery is the only one left in the town still brewing locally and began as a brewery almost 500 years ago. It has been in the current family since ...

We boarded the Eurostar in Paris for our 2 hour journey through Brussels into Bruges. Bruges is in the north of the country near Oostend on the coast and is truly delightful. We stayed in the historical centre and it reminded us of Venice, just smaller ...

... that all of Belgium have the same bus system so your tickets can be used in any city. How smart of them...Ontario are you listening??

Ghent city center is larger then Brugges and they have their own castle in the city center. How cool is that? However I think after touring around for 5 hours that Brugges has a prettier city center. Sorry Ghent. However, they do have some neat sights to see. Their Cathedral of St. Bavo's was really nice. It dates back to ...

... wine and Mark tried Ghentse Gruut beer. I thought it was pretty cool when our waitress, who incidentally could speak five languages, told us that it was brewed by a woman!!

That just left one "must do" before leaving Belgium - we had to try Trappist beer. This is a pretty special beer. It must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery, either by the monks themselves or under their supervision. The brewery must be ...
