The day Denice had been looking forward to – "Sound of Music Tour “ in Salzburg. We left Munich on the 0620 for Salzburg, Austria. We travelled through some beautiful countryside, starting to see snow capped alps along the way. We had time for a quick bite of breakfast in the park before getting on the bus for our tour at 9 am. The tour was great. We got to singalong with the songs from the movie and were told about the real Von Trapp family. Mrs Von Trapp ...

We also visited Mozart museums on the first and second floors. There is a lot of original information - actual letters, documents, etc., so we did find it all quite interesting. His father Leopold, a ...

... Old town) of Salzburg was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997.

Unfortunately the weather in Salzburg was pretty grotty with continuous rain. Despite this we decided to make the best of it and saw most of what we wanted to see even if it was not in sunny weather.

We started at the Fortress Hohensalzburg (Hohensalzburg Castle) which is perched high on a mountain overlooking the city. It is one of the largest medieval castles in Europe and was erected ...
