... both languages were fairly prevalent.

The three things Brugge is famous for were hard to miss: chocolate, beer and lace. The window displays are filled with delicious treats and marzipan - a visual feast that acts as quite the temptress. Needless to say it did not take us long to visit a chocolatier, and there were no hesitations in ordering a ‘Duval’ (Devil in Flemish - at 8% I ...

My highlight was getting a fishy pedicure. Maybe some of you have heard of this, you sit with your feet in a fish tank and the small fish nibble away the rough skin! I know it sounds gross and it felt really weird but it was a neat thing to experience and I would recommend it, but it feels wweeeiiirdddd, be ...

... we were going except within about 100m of the hotel. Thankfully it stopped snowing some time about when we had lunch, so it wasn't too bad when we went for a 2 hour guided walking tour at 4pm (although it was extremely cold). The history of Brugge is quite interesting-it had its era of prosperity in the 13th-15th century, with the 15th being its 'golden century' until the river which leads to the North Sea silted up. Until that point it had been a major trading port, but because ...
