... with twisting roads on many levels. We get lost and Mrs. Merkel seems to have no idea where she is. We spend ages going round and round, get a fleeting view of the bridge in the distance and eventually get back on to the main road. We are staying at the Vidago Palace Hotel. The porter offers to clean our car for us. Its just what's needed, and its free. It is a huge building. It was built as a Spa Hotel in 1910 because there are mineral springs the and the mineral water is still sold ...

Our wine and bread tour started at a small museum in the center of the village.

We proceeded to the winery, where our guide Maria, gave us an in depth history of the area and how it's become known for its Muscat grapes. It can be quite warm there in the summer - 50 degrees Celsius or 122. The ground is very rocky, all of which makes for perfect conditions.

Portugal has to be one of the world’s best value travel ...

... for the day, the second time in a week! Not a bad effort for old *****! A bucket load of bikes on this section and we put one foot after the other they were pedalling one rotation after the other - tough no matter which way you do it, they just get an easier downhill!

We arrived into the village soaked through the Gortex and grabbed coffee and headed to the Albergue to dry out (in a state of hope to warm up with a good shower and be able to dry wet stuff ...

... adds 'x' number of kms and everybody says stuff that. OHS? - what's that - and seriously........use common sense people. If a chunk of vehicle is coming your way, just wait for them to go through! Not been a problem at all. Some areas my buddy and I are through long before the workers gets their butts out of bed. They go to bed late and get up late.

We finally reached tonight's village and see a bar as we come through the street, but head first to claim our beds (and ...
