After another long day in the sun, we finally arrived in Villafranca Montes de Orca and checked into the Hotel San Anton Abad, which was situated at the top of a BHH (big honking hill) ... just to make sure we knew what tired really meant. Ever since Estella, we've been booking our hotels just as we arrive on the outskirts of town and so far it's been working great. Sorry, no pictures of Villafranca .. too ...

... off the road again and on to tracks, through farmland, over another ridge - with views to Burgos, and down into Cardenuela Riopico to a new Albergue called Santa Fe. We got a private room with our own bathroom and immediately fell asleep. Woke, showered and headed down stairs for a beer / wine. ... 3 Day 18: Errin: Today we watched a beautiful sunrise over the mountains and set off to our next destination San Juan de Ortega. However, we arrived by 11:30 and decided to keep going another 7 Km's to Atapuerca. I think we got some of the last beds - and thank god. ... there was a section of red earth that constituted all of the surrounding countryside and road we were walking along.... You know - the type where every step you take in the wet adds another 2cm to the mud already on your boots/shoes?? The cumulative effect being that you ultimately have to stop every twenty steps or so to 'de mud' your shoes or you just seriously can't keep lifting your feet (oh yes... and remember I have very unhappy tendons in one leg - overall? Not happy ...
