... hill was very short but intensely steep and then it just flattened out for a long walk through the national park into a little village called St Juan de Ortego. I waited for Clive at this point and enjoyed our morning coffee, then marched on through Ages and on to Atapuerca where we bought a roll, etc and made our own lunch nice again. Money is now very short and no ATM's in this part of the country. Having been on the bitumen since the last town, it was nice ...

... 3 Day 18: Errin: Today we watched a beautiful sunrise over the mountains and set off to our next destination San Juan de Ortega. However, we arrived by 11:30 and decided to keep going another 7 Km's to Atapuerca. I think we got some of the last beds - and thank god. Get to pick it up washed and dried.

Found Hedley in the pub with a bunch of ...

At the restaurants there are pilgrim menus on offer. They always include a starter, salad, soup or pasta and several choices of each. My personal favouite for a starter is seafood salad! Then it is followed by the main, which is meat of some sort and potatoes. I can always ...

Stuck in St. Juan

... The beds in the monastery are completely bleak, and after having a siesta with EVERYONE in the room, I don't hate it as much, but the first minute we opened the door, I was ready to do 4 more kilometres to Agés and sacrifice my €5. There are shiny, sickly green mattress protectors on most of the beds (blue on some) that look like they were donated from a hospital about 50 years ago. The ceilings are high and peeling, the skirting boards are mouldy and the wiring ...
