Things that go BUMP in the Night...

... swift action resulted in them being relocated underneath the van, despite the protestations of Lymºs board, which proceeded to lash out and cause him bodily harm about the head. (A: ha ha ha !!) However, all is forgiven and we all lived to surf another day.

Expensive Grass

A very pretty (cobbled alleyways, olde worlde stylee, cows in a field with not only udders, but also tuneful bells which, when youºve got a dozen, made quite a din a la Mike Oldfield) little town, unlike the campsite which was essentially a sodden piece of grass, for which we were charged Euro 22, for the pleasure of a night's shut-eye.

La Playa Franca - Where the Mountains Meet the Sea

... saying. We were at La Playa Franca and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I call it “where the mountains meet the sea”. I have never seen anything like that before, so it was very amazing to me. The mountains were literally going into the sea. We spent an hour taking pictures and exploring and just soaking in all of the beauty.

The rest is just said with pictures.....

Is every town in Spain lovely?

We awoke to the sounds the ocean across the street. A stroll revealled the Picos de Europe directly behind us. We toured the lovely old city, took some naps, played in another discovered playground, and set off again around ...

Change of plans

... to the beach front promenade for a bit, before heading back to the pension, where I had another chat with Julia, before heading to bed. She's so cute - I had left early this morning, and didn't return until after midnight, so she told me "I was worried and thought you were lost, since I didn't see you all day." It was another great night in Santander, that ended exactly like the previous ones - with a pleasant chat with a cute little old Spanish lady.

Costa Verde

... treeless. The road along the coast would be hillier but has lots of views of the sea and plenty of shade, even though much of it seems to be along the main highway

One day we disregard the clouds and drive along a truly pectacular road to Potes, (heaps nicer than the 'best' village in Spain, Santillana del Mar). Here we manage to get a little walk in while the rain stayed away.

After 6 nights in Pechon we drive to an ...

Off the beaten track

... Kevin (actually I) forgot to put the battery back in after charging.  So I tried to take a picture with Kevin's phone, but it just wasn't the same.
As with most modern art, the art itself was cool, but the commentary was laughable so I stopped listening to the handheld tour and just read the plaques.  They say the same thing but as they are short, manage to do so without pretension and posturing.  Nor do they use the words "actually" and "essentially" too much ...

Happy Birthday to Me!!

... know anything about them you know they are closed to the public. Which is why we were in the replicas. yay FAKE cave paintings...they would only allow a certain number in at a time, the others had the option to roam the museum. I sat. Not only was I sick, and Drowsy from the Robotision equivalent I took, but It hurt too bad to do more than hobble. So we went in, and i was impressed with all the work they did to make the whole room look like a cave ...

Day 2, still alive!

I can't believe I can even walk after yesterdays f'n grueling 12 hour ride! Slept until 11am! Not too long today (compared to yesterday) only about 50 kilometers. We started out along the lake which was relatively level with a nice downhill into the charming village of (oops, Ill have to fill this in later) where we bought bread and cheese for lunch which we would eat later. After this village it was a ...

Astorga to Rabanal del Camino - 22.1km

... Getting up early and walking in the cold paid off though, we were able to watch the sun rise over Astorga - and what a wicked sight. Today's walk was wicked, not too many uphill and the scenery was breathtaking. We made it to Rabanal del Camino by 12.40pm, and seeing as we were well ahead of time had decided to continue on to the next village Foncebadón (a further 5.8km. Thankfully we spoke to a ...
