... in the valley. The valley around the paintings are of volcanic origin. This is an area of geological change as there has been a lot of volcanic activity and there is also evidence of glaciers in the area. The valley where Rio Pinturas runs today follows the course of a northwest-southeast fracture that cuts through the volcanic rock. After our guided tour, we left and drove for about a half hour to where we planned to bush camp for the night. The ...

I woke up in the middle of the night with a headache. I'm not sure if it was the lack of water, lack of sleep, heat in the room, or something else. I tried to sleep it off but when I got up at 6:30 I caved and took tylonel as I wanted to be able to trek today. ... eating, drinking, eating and drinking some more, trying to find wifi (unsuccessfully) and much needed laundry. The town is very small and was settled in 1985 during a land war with Chile. Besides eating, drinking and hiking there isn't much to do in town. The following days we visited Laguna de los Tres, Fitz Roy range and Cerro Torre. The scenery here is absolutely breath taking and we were blessed with stunning weather which was much ...

... I, of course took many photos and then had to keep moving. Two hours later I got to Camp Poincenot and the beginning of the next leg of the trek. The huge climb up 1000m was very steep and there are warnings that you should be in good physical condition to make the climb. There are all sorts of people doing this hike - different ages, different ‘shapes‘…..So now my competitive gear kicks in and I say to myself - ...
