As we descended to Lago Desierto, views of the lake with the spires of Mount Fitroy appeared before us. After pushing hard, not stopping for lunch, and throwing down nuts and fruit all day, we made it with an hour and a half to spare. ... ate our lunch by a blustery curve of the river and decided to head out before we were caught hiking in the storm. We left just in time as it was still sunny during the entire way back, but there was no visibility anymore of Mt. Fitzroy. Miraculously, we had picked the perfect time for the trek as the mountain was not seen again for the rest of our time in the area. My feet were exhausted and my leg muscles wiped, and it would be a few days before my ...
