Dijon is not playing fair

I only stayed for one night here because there was nothing in particular that I wanted to see, I just came to see what it was like. I caught the train back to Paris and had to use a different train station because Paris has several, all of which have trains going to certain places. My metro ticket should have expired but the other morning it had worked so I tried it again. After a couple of goes it was accepted, Yes! Machines can be foiled, and then 'stole' my way to Gare De ...

Update from P and D

... rode in. Pastis and a (small) glass of rose for 2.20eu. Bit of a difference to Troyes where we were charged 8.10eu for a beer and a cold cafe au lait.
The site is fre but requires tokens for electricity (3eu for 1 hour) and water (3eu for 100 litres). This is pricey by French standards (the usual charge for 100ltrs of water - where not free - being no more than 1eu) but not too bad for such an attractive site.
One novelty spotted - a large BMW ...

A Hospice and Burgundian Vinyards

... kitchen and pharmacy, all run by nuns.

After touring the hospice, we did a little shopping (OK, I did a little shopping and Attila did a little waiting). In trying to pay for my purchase, I discovered a compatibilty probelm with the chip in my Visa. Apparently France hasbeen using the chip for quite some time and some of the readers are not compatible with our new chips in North America. Anyway, it ...

From Calais to Dijon in Forty winks!!!!

... and the pooper was glad to cooldown.

5.45pm and we arrived at the Chathole F1 in Dijon, checked in and on requesting some towels were presented with 3 travel size kleenex, that weren't going to cover anyone's modesty especially Python Foster. Richard used his dancing shoes and suggested that we visited the Ikea that we passed just down the road to procure the said python covering towels, although Kev did say that he would be happy with a ...

All the way to Burgundy

... to say the least, but the next thing I knew...

...it was quarter-to-nine, Friday morning! We had blithely planned an early monring kick-off - but so much for bold plans! Still, by 10.15 we had hit a Carrefour supermarket for munchies, filled up with diesel (still seeming delightfully cheap!) and been amused by a regrettably named German coach in the supermarket car park. Soon we were heading south once more.

Not bad plonk!

Booked a site off the A6 en route to the south of france - again we are the youngest by about 20 years and Lauren is practically embryonic! The site is opp. some sort of manufacturing base but hey the pool is across the river and the wine is great in this region... Talking of pools - Stu was stopped in his tracks and asked to disrobe of his board shorts and don a very tight fitting pair of trunks ...

... later instead. Basically, we woke up at the crack of dawn for absolutely nothing. Facing exhaustion( this seems to happen often), us girls had to ensure that our later train to Marseille would not be cancelled as well. It actually was rescheduled, so we changed our reservations and went to McDonald's to relax until we were able to depart for Beaune. I did not happen to buy anthiny at the fast food chain, for it was probably triple the price of ...

Traveling Through France

We leave Switzerland and head to Paris. En route we pass through the French country side, including the Burgandy wine growing region. We also pass through some of the World War I battlefields. Our tour guide, Robert, tells a story about how the French, fearing a German invasion prior to the war, built a series of obstacles all along their border with ...
