Wales and England - AMAZING. We arrived on Friday 16th October. We launched straight into sightseeing mode and went directly to the Roman Baths in Bath. What a groovy town Bath is. The next day was the Dr Who Experience in Cardiff. This probably rated as James' most favourite tourist attraction. That afternoon Paul and James went to the Semi Final of New Zealand v France. Our country v The Country we live in. The rest is history. ...

But it’s all an experience, doing car repairs en franšais. I’m amazed really, that at half past four on a Friday afternoon a) anyone is up for doing any work, and b) they can whip the wheel off, and the tyre, and fix a puncture, all within about 15 minutes.

We leave early and follow the Tinee river up a steep gorge towards the famous Col de la Bonette. This is the highest paved road in Europe, topping out at 2,802 metres.

It's a lovely climb up and just as good down the other side to the small town of Jausiers. Like most high alpine roads in France there are no barriers at the roadside so it's just a steep drop off the side ...

        The Kitchen !

A travel blog entry by france-harrison on Sep 10, 2015

... reminds me of a by-gone student flat, where the washing machine use to double as additional storage. The cooktop (LPG gas) has two heats: ‘after burner’, and off. It’s darn near impossible to balance the delicate heat requirements of a risotto and the thermal urges of this cooktop. The saving grace of the kitchen has to be the oven. While small and compact, this thing will cook food perfectly, from a slow cooked casserole to ...

        Food Markets!

A travel blog entry by france-harrison on Sep 09, 2015

... every mouthful is a delight. James is currently working his way through their counter of offerings, having been told he isn’t allowed to pick the same thing twice. Luckily we are here for a few more months yet. While Chamonix is a fantastic location, it sadly lacks a dedicated food market, where the local producers assemble together 5 or 6 days a week to offer their wares. Alas we have to settle for the Saturday morning open market in central Chamonix, ...
