    The Wine

Oh, the wine. We both have recently discovered Barolo and Barbera d'Asti/ Barbera d'Alba wines, and we were not disappointed. It was so good, and so inexpensive compared to what we can get at home. Through tasting at a local wine bar, we also found we liked Dolcetto wines. And I even got to try some bubbles local to the area.

... Marco was not sharing, but for €50 more we could do tasting.
Decided that was a tad exxy, so we bought two of the most minuscule truffles at the local market and I added them to risotto that night and Noel to scrambled eggs the next morning - Yummo !!

So, we've had a lovely relaxing week in La Morra - next week it's further south to the Ligurian Riviera, Genoa and onto the Cinque Terre
Ciao for now .... R&N xx

Turino is a bit off the tourist radar , which is why we chose it . It's reputation is as a bit of a faded beauty with industrial roots (Fiat factories ) Most people know ...

... we found this amazing local Pizza place, it one that the locals use, so there was no English going on at all. But we got 2 medium Pizza's for euros 7, can't moan about that, and we couldn't even eat it all.

The following morning we had arranged to see the The Shroud of Turin, due to circumstances this did not happen, but we went off to our next destination, Capena Rome.

... but we didn't get to taste it. Some of the group bought wine but I chose not to even through the prices were good. A smashed bottle of schnapps at Heathrow still haunts me today. We weaved our way up the street to La Miraja di Gatti Eugenio for lunch. For 20 euros we were given antipasti, two courses and dessert plus wine - great food and great value. Instead of pasta I had asparagus risotto (delicious) and while everyone ...
