    ... that it was near. So after searching unsuccessfully we decided to pop back to our hotel to take advantage of the free wifi and re-look-up the restaurant. Luckily it was very close to the hotel and it was located down a tiny little alley so the chances of us finding it without a second round of research were pretty slim.     ... glory. We spent a number of hours wandering the palace and gardens, and only just scratched the surface, such is the scale of the complex. It would be quite easy to spend an entire day there to do a comprehensive tour.

    ... got great views of the Scaliger castle and the Grottoes of Catullus (ancient Roman ruins). Afterwards we walked through the Sirmione township for a closer look at the castle, and also the gelateria.

    After it was all said & done, we jumped back in the car and drove the 250+ km to Turin, where we were treated to some homemade Saffron Risotto, chicken and some more gelato to top it all off.

    ... Ristorante da Gemma in the village of Roddino, where we were treated to a Piemonte banquet, sampling the traditional dishes of the region. We started with some salami and assorted breads, followed by egg salad, veal, carne cruda (raw beef mince - surprisingly good!), taglialini, agnolotti, rabbit & goat.
