... wonderful canals threaded through the town and walking was easy.
Our apartment was overlooking one of the canals and we were always hanging out the window enjoying the view. We had a large 3 bedroom so we had plenty of room for everyone and most importantly for Mike to cook for us. We were also close to the oldest pub in Belgium which has been trading for 500 years. Obviously, we had to check it out.
We walked the canals, shopped ...

... Again we parked up just outside the centre and biked in (these bikes are getting good use in Belgium!) With freshly pumped up tyres we headed off. We were merrily cycling along a quiet street when we heard an almighty bang. The car next to us stopped, in fact the whole street did, all looking around, 'What was that?!?' Yip, you've guessed it - Logan's back tyre!!! Haha, got a bit too ...

... That will warm the cockles for the afternoon.

The meal was great - loads of food and excellent quality, did not need the extra plate of chips we ordered...

Now what are we going to do for the next three hours... and its cold out there.

What a long walk... That's what we have done for three hours ! I think we have seen every canal, every church, every street in Brugge !

... is a stunning place to visit with a lot of medieval charm. The sound of horses and carts pulling tourists down the cobbled streets adds to the old-world atmosphere. If you can ignore the hordes of tourist shops, there really is a great deal to see. We went on a free walking tour for about 3 hours and learnt so much about the city, the buildings and the best spots for eating and drinking it really opened our eyes to what a unique place it is!

Ghent... I never would have come across this place if not for Diana's daddy (Diana, our nursing school buddy).
