... was presented in a very interactive way. I read a little sign in one of the town centres that spoke of the devastation to Belgium and it's people during WWI. In 1915, over 5,000 Belgians fled to France for safety from the Germans. ... a random village for a flam-kuchen / tarte flambe - a typical Alsace dish much like a pizza but with a base of creme fraiche instead of tomato sauce. Anna had snails on hers, amongst other things!

During our lovely pancake breakfast, our gracious host - Christopher - assured us that it was just as quick to walk to the train station as to the nearest taxi rank (having advised against calling one). With that in mind we trekked to Gard du Nord, taking in a new part of the city en route, purchased our tickets to Bruges and rushed to get the next train.
