... even though this seems too good to be true)
From the electric company (STAWAG) I got out my handy dandy map and notebook with addresses to the mattress companies (aunt lena, I use that little red notebook every day). I got on the bus a rode to the mattress company, it was right on a corner, couldn't miss it. I went in and the sales dude showed me a couple different mattresses, all around 100 euro. I saw on the webiste that I could ...
Hi all,
Had a pretty lazy Sunday. I know that tomorrow is going to be very busy so I just wanted to relax today. Had apple strudel ala mode for lunch, haha. Then we had a turkish dish for dinner. It was chicken wings and sliced potatoes on a pan lightly smothered in tomato sauce with lots of spices and garlic. It was pretty good! I just dont like the skin or fat on chicken, and I dont like ...
After popping into and out of Germany, we were now back in Belgium. It was beginning to get a bit dark, and we still had at least 200 miles left to drive.
Gaz's motor was struggling, and threatening to overheat, so we stopped to let it cool down.
With the vehicles all decorated with stickers, we attracted a bit of attention, and a Belgian couple took our ...
lots to say.. where to begin?
On Friday we had a teacher outing to Stolberg. It is a very old city about 20 km from Aachen. We had a great time. The weather was very nice, for a change, haha. We first went out to lunch at a cafe. The food was pretty good, I had salmon and potatoes and salad. The only thing was we had to wait FOREVER (at least an hour) to get our food, and not everyone got their food at the ...
... and a little kitchenette in the corner. There is also lots of floor space in case anyone wants to come visit me! J (haha Then we would of course purchase a nice mattress and some blankets, would still be cheaper than a hotel room.)
After school today I am supposed to call the rental agency. I think I will just go there and talk to them and hopefully pick up the key. I am nervous about moving out of Nil’s house ...
... will already be rented out, when the paper just came out at 6am! (I feel sorry for those people who still are getting phone calls for the rest of the week.) So I made two appointments for today. I went to one already, and it was a good price, but not furnished and on the 5th floor, without an elevator. The next one I am going to in a couple hours and it is furnished and on the first floor and has a good price. Press your ...
Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... on Friday I went to Baesweiler for the first time. Baesweiler is where I will actually teach. The city was surprisingly nice. I say surprisingly because lots of people have been kind of cracking jokes about it and about how small it is. But the downtown is very nice and clean and there were lots of people walking about. The school was ok.. I didn't really see enough of it to form a good opinion ...
Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... integration it hosts today and the unification championed by its native son 1200 years before. Brussels ensures that travelers know its position as the continent's capital with its airport's ubiquitous proclamation: "Welcome to Europe". The region's history of occupation and destruction lends itself to being the home of Europe's peace-ensuring institutions, but I can't help but suggest that an underlying motivation remains an inferiority complex Belgium and ...
Liège, The Ardennes, Belgium dcarlson... the boat in the middle of the night. This girl was also under 18, so we were trying to deal with this without letting our teacher know what was going on...hmmm, dilemma when most of those who would be helpful in this situation are acting drunk themselves due to sea-sickness. Anyway, the night passed without anyone throwing themselves off any boats, but with several people throwing up off the boat, and that, dear friends was the end of our adventure! Hope you enjoyed it!
Liège, Belgium loubeeJuly 25 From Duren I took the train for free till Aachen where I was stuck to wait 2h for a train to liege or 15min to the Nederland. I mistakenly jump on the train to the ndl and ride for free till the dutch border where full of controller jump in and i was forced to act as a dumb lost tourist and so i only had to pay the basic fare but got stuck in a unknown town before i catched a train to ...
