Up and off on time. We road up and down a local road to warm up then we headed straight up to Sancerre, a hilltop, medieval village. It was 3kms up. I took it nice and steady and was able to achieve the climb without stopping or getting off.

What a wonderful spot! Narrow little streets, a wee square with cafes, patisserie surronding it. We sat and had a coffee to let the rest ...

Its a shame as it ...

... Was glad to see the Anna Maria when we got to Briare. This is the place of the famous Pont Canal - a canal up in the air, it spans the Loire via a bridge.

Jilly, the lady who fell last night was checked and hospital and was back with us by morning.

Dinner was real french freshly made pate with bagette, ratatouille with rice, a german sausage and a green salad. Dessert was pear belle ...

... are docked in is Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses (the seven locks) referring to the old lock system built in the 1600s that joined the Seine and the Loire. I think the height difference between the two rivers is 30m and the seven locks lifted or lowered boats as required.

The first town we biked to was Chatillon-Coligny. We saw its castle dating back to the 12th century and stopped by a cafe for a coffee. The we set off for ...
