... group move on before we started the walk around. Some of the buildings are quite dilapidated but still occupied but those that are crumbling to bits have been abandoned.

After we headed down the hill (where two years ago a HAT tourist in this same tour rode down too fast, missed a corner, hit a tree and died) we continued on our way mainly along cycle only paths or the ...

... headwind.

The following morning, the wind was gone and the sun was out. Our ride that day was about 61 miles (98 km), so we were all happy for the change in the weather and the chance to enjoy rural France without getting soaked, or worrying that we'd be blown off our bikes. Dinner was real french freshly made pate with bagette, ratatouille with rice, a german sausage and a green salad. Dessert was pear belle ...

... the names are 100% correct. I will double check against the itinerary when I have time. It was compounded by the fact that when we returned to the barge each night all we wanted was a shower, then it was dinner and then it was dark. The lighting on deck was dim and there was nowhere in the cabin to sit except on the beds where you either banged your head on the other bunk or the ceiling! I took a few notes each day.
