... with the baggage guys trying to locate it. There was nothing for it but to go into town and check in to a room. Í had all my valuables, but had to spend the evening in my sweaty bus clothes and hope it would be there in the morning. Luckily it was. *breathe a sigh of relief* - if that was Asia i donīt think i would have seen it again.
Veracruz is a sweaty little sea side ...
Good morning! The sun in shining in Veracruz and I have finished packing. Today we leave for Puebla and I'm saddened to hear that the drive is only about 3 hours long. I wish it was more as I could greatly use the sleep but c'est la vie! I'll get what I can!
Last night we performed for a crowd of over 300 people and what a receptive audience they were. It seemed small since the venue we were in held almost 4,000 people, but this crowd definitely made ...
... had experienced some heavy storms over the night and the jungle was not safe for anyone. Instead we went to a senior citizen's center in Xalapa and sang for them. After a singing a few songs, we had a dance party! It was some of the most fun I've ever had! When we first entered the center and were told about having a dance party, I have to say I was skeptical. The people did not seem to be in any mood to dance and were content on just watching us.
However, when the music ...
... and pancakes :) But it's all about adjusting the culture, right?!
After breakfast (which was around 12:30 p.m.) we got ready for the day, ran some errands and went to the family's home for a typical Veracruz dinner. It was absolutely scrumptious! We had fresh baked rolls, chicken drummies in a dark salsa, and Spanish rice. For dessert, I introduced the puppy chow that I made this weekend. The only difference was that my puppy chow ...
Hi friends :)
Just wanted to wish you all a fabulous Wednesday! I've had a crazy 3 days here as we were prepping for the cast's arrival on Sunday and Monday, the cast arrived on Monday, and today was our first full day with the cast as well as Mexican Independence Day! I started a blog tonight but need to get up early tomorrow as we are going to the beach! I'll be sure to finish tomorrow!
I hope you all are well :)
Hugs,
Megan
... from the ocean. Or better yet, traveling around the world as a performer, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures first-hand, and having once-in-a-lifetime adventures. And now, as I think about how September is almost half-way over, I mentally hit myself in the head.
Am I enjoying myself? Absolutely.
Have I been putting myself out there? Yes.
Am I happy to have made this decision? Best decision ever.
However, could I be doing more to enjoy this ...
Oh my god, where do I begin? Since you last hard from me, I landed the job. I had a week of just hanging out and getting to know my little part of Veracruz. We live in the Zaragoza area, just a 10 minute walk from the beach. It's not the nicest beach in the world, but we don't have to go too far to sit down by the water and enjoy ourselves. Liz and I have been to a wine tasting where we discovered a ...
Veracruz, Mexico amankora... sent them the bartender, what did they want, price was no object. The waiter came back to us wringing his hands telling us the young ladies would not dance with us or accept our drinks. You have to remember, we were three gringo guys in a Mexican bar. By now one of my fellow crew members, Eric was gloriously drunk. Better to say, he was obnoxiously drunk. He made it clear in no quiet words, the rejection he felt when the ladies would ...
Veracruz, Mexico lavidanueva... at 8 pm to take the bus to Campeche since I didn't really want to stay in Veracruz. I spent the day walking all over Veracruz, but there really isn't a whole lot to see here, which is why I didn't want to stay. The city is located on the gulf of Mexico, but the beaches aren't really that impressive. You could smell sewage occasionally as you walk along the beach. The only really interesting thing I did was ...
Veracruz, Mexico elturtle... big cities much then, nor could I handle them very well. I still don’t like them much, though I can handle them much better now. Veracruz is pretty large itself, but laid-back. But it’s hot, the summer coming on fast in the tropics. I make tracks up north, next stop Tampico.
