... and field. It had channels running certain directions along with the current. We did some fishing but came out empty handed. The mission was to go to this island they call Jesus island. They say Jesus spent years meditating here. I suppose this was during his forgotten years between 20 and 30 when he apperently went to Kashmir and studied budism so the story goes. There are also theories which suggest Jesus came and spent the rest of his life after crucifixion ...

... a bit of reading I was convinced - everything about Kashmir sounded like much more of an adventure! Ironically I had told my dad just a couple of days before that I wouldn't be going to Kashmir (and hence couldn't buy him a safire...) as the foreign office said that tourists shouldn't go. On reading though, there hadn't been any troubles for a while and it seemed safe enough... And so further north we went!

... again and we had access to the Internet. I checked my emails and then googled the PM visit to Kashmir. There ware news reports of two insurgent attacks on the Indian army. Two police and 8 soldiers killed in separate attacks. The militant group Hizbut Mujahideen claimed responsibility for both. We are now wondering whether the boys in khaki were here partly for our protection? Mind you they left at 9pm so no security after that, whatever they are here ...
