This place was fantastic. Read good reviews in LP and TA and it filled them all. The outdoor areas and garden were fantastic for relaxing, even though we had loads of rain. This was the main reason we stayed 4 nights instead of 1. Breakfast was good. Private room was nice (no a/c, but didn't need with the cooler, rainy weather). 2 kitchens (1 outdoors - we mainly used this) with good facilities. 2 fridges to store your own food and beers. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Stay here!

This region is also famous for the Mayan Ruins. I visited the ruins in Tulum next to the beach, the ruins in Coba in a forest and Chichen Itza (close to Valladolid), a UNESCO protected one. Very special to see in Chichen Itza is the construction of the main temple of Kukulcán. The temple is the perfect representation of one of the Mayan calendars …

It wasn't a very long bus ride but after arriving in Valladolid we felt we needed to be refreshed so our little crew (Bavo, Marcus, Clare, Callum and I) all hired bikes and made our way to a cenote just outside the town.

Riding through the town we were on the lookout for food. We got to a big grass patch thinking we'll find something. All …

The journey from Tulum inland to Valladolid took less than the scheduled two hours and if anything, has been typical of my experience with the Mexican bus network, ADO, so far. Between the towns, there seems to be little but straight roads bisecting densely forested jungle and reminds me a little of the highways in the USA where you can drive for …
