This place was fantastic. Read good reviews in LP and TA and it filled them all. The outdoor areas and garden were fantastic for relaxing, even though we had loads of rain. This was the main reason we stayed 4 nights instead of 1. Breakfast was good. Private room was nice (no a/c, but didn't need with the cooler, rainy weather). 2 kitchens (1 outdoors - we mainly used this) with good facilities. 2 fridges to store your own food and beers. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Stay here!

Should I Stay, or should I go?

We went out for a couple of beers last night to a local mexican bar (cantina). The loud traditional mexican music could be heard from down the street in an otherwise quiet neighborhood, so we figured it would be quite interesting to check out. We wernt wrong. The place was packed full of Mayans, most just chilling after a long hot day, but a few of …

Ahhh so lazy! I got up an hour later than planned and then just mooched around for a further hour or two. La Candelaria is the first ever hostel that I have stayed in and I think its set the bar really too high. There are several dorm rooms each with around 4 bunk beds (8 people) and then a number of private rooms, all have fans and are reasonably …

Having had a terrible night in the expensive P.o.C. hotel, I left for Vallodolid on the first available bus at 0840 for a fair price of M$86 (less then £5).I had considered getting a collectivo instead, and stopping at the Coba ruins onroute, but since I couldn't confirm if they had locker storage, I figured id give it a miss... And frankly …

... suddenly the beauty of the place became apparent to me. Cool, aquamarine water sat still at the bottom of the sinkhole, illunminated from the top of this hollow cylinder. Hanging vines gave the impression of heavenly rays leaking in from the roof. I watched Harley backflip off the steps up and to the right of the pool before jumping in feet first from five meters or so up. Health and safety is clearly not as big a concern here in México but they had at least laid out some ...
