... started at the wrong park so we ended up doing two hikes instead of one. Finally on the right path we got going on a two and a half hour muddy, uphill hike to the top of an extinct volcano. The reward was to be a green lagoon at the top. Much effort and these two and a half hours later we found a swampy green lagoon with lots of biting insects. Needless to say we didn't stay long.

... and doing some homework on-line, we had a general idea of what we wanted to do in Costa Rica, but all of the detailed-level planning (what hotels we stayed at, transfers between locations, adventure tours, etc.) were arranged by Catalina of CR Referrals - she did an outstanding job, and we'd highly recommend her if you ever do decide to go to Costa Rica. We found her based on some excellent reviews of her business on tripadvisor.com
The 720am bus from Puerto Viaje to San Jose passes by Rockin j's
door, so we sacrificed some sleep and got up early, braving the still
pouring rain to catch the early & more convenient bus.
It was a long wet and winding road, but we did get to stop for some delicious smoothies and pastries, so I was happy out!
