Granada, Spain bobbyw2345We woke up early to catch our 7:50am train to Madrid where we could then transfer to Granada. We found out that we should have booked ahead because there was a direct train from Valencia to Granada at 11:30am (not in our schedule book because it's not a main line), but it was full. Not only that, but she said the first train from Madrid was at 7pm and not 12:00 like I had thought! Note to self, check into alternate routes before waking up early and arriving just before the train leaves. So we...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands josh.lambdenNight buses are not fun. Grenada however is pretty cool. Lots of old buildings, history and food. We had dinner at a Moroccan restaurant (Restaurante Arrayanes) that Lonely Planet (and a zillion other books) recommended. However it was now overpriced compared to other places down the street. But it was nice to have something a bit different. I should point out that we are using a €99 kmtriko bus pass from ALSA. We bought it on the Internet, and picked it up in Logrońo. That makes it soun...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mr_grumpyWe're back now-for a day or two We've marked off the list Spain's 3rd largest city, Valencia. No, we're not tri-lingual, so please stop asking. (for the curious, there is a whole other language here "Valenciano"...kind of like Castillion Spanish...but not really). What we did master on this quick trip to this host city of the 2007 Americas Cup was la comida de Valencia.
One thing any visitor to Spain will quickly discover ...
... interested. They have a great complex- The City of Arts and Sciences which you can easily spend two whole days in. There's everything from dolphin shows to films on Egyptology.
Found the city to be a little quiet and not just as impressive as other spainish cities, such as Seville, but def worth a visit- especially if you can join it up with a feista- I would love to go back for La fallas.
... cold! The next day we spent shopping at their huge outdoor market and sightseeing. Our day was cut a little short because apparently in Valencia, the WHOLE city shuts down for siesta. We ended up walking around for over an hour, only to find nothing open.
All around, it was a really successful trip! Hope everyone is doing well, and I miss you all very much.
Love,
Amy
I have started on the most unplanned section of my trip, and if you know me at all you know how unsettling that usually makes me feel...but this time I am liberated!
I was told by many people to make a trip down to Valencia for a night. It was touted as "something to see while in the country." So, I caught a train in the morning and was off! I got in to town an immediately I could see why ...
... quickly freshened up so I could go see the Alhambra.
Maria, it was everything you said and more it was amazing, the gardens are absolutely breath taking. I don't think this is even giving it the justice it deserves. The views are amazing aswell!
OK so its just amazing!
Hope all is well

The parade started off similar to yesterdays parade, with the GIANT heads. A band followed playing religious songs. People sang and threw confetti as the Corpus Christi monument passed. There were several churches and church groups represented in the procession. Everyone was dressed up in the parade, either in costume or in their respective ...
... ground being kicked and punched viciously. Vincent and I pulled him out while Brandon went after Ward. Sam was drunk, bleeding, and his eye was swollen. His shirt was ripped and tattered. He kept up a steady stream of curses, expanding on the theory that "cinco a uno" (five on one) was a pussy way to fight, and would have walked out there for some more if we hadn't held him back. What a night. *** I had found several language exchange programs, or intercambios, on ...
