Hey, I'm alive! We did get going at about 1.15am, I fell asleep and when I woke up we were near Palma. With about 10 minutes to go before we dock, I haven't thrown up once - fingers crossed. It's an overcast day in Palma with the sun making a valiant effort to break through. In fact, by the time I had bought my ticket back to Barcelona (a 'futbol group special' - return only, no one ways available), it was positively hot out. Especially so after I had lugged my backpack for the 3.5km into tow...
Palma de Mallorca, Spain jamboHello Everybody Yesterday was pretty much a right off, I didn´t get up till 4pm since when I first woke up earlier i had a headache from the night before which didn´t go away for most of the night. After that it was just a quiet night of internet and movies. I woke up this morning determined to accomplish something so I grabbed Ella´s camera and went to the old town and cathedral area. I took lots of photos of the Igor Mitoraj outdoor exibit and the ¨heart art display¨. I then walked thru the...
Palma de Mallorca, Spain kasparzzzzzzz... acrobatic illusionist and his wife – pretty lame actually although one of their illusions was quite amazing. We came out of the theatre just before nine – just in time to form a team of four people and play a game of "name that tune" in the piano bar. The theme this evening was “The Beatles” and Suzanne and I together with a couple from Lexington Kentucky tied for first (ll out of 12 correct) and ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-normanAnd at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkitaWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... waded around in the surf or fell back to sleep on the beach. It was good to get rehydrated after all the alcohol and dancing from last night. It was a nice relaxing afternoon with a beautiful beach view with several other yachts in the bay and a parade of nude or topless people walking by.
One of the girls met a guy on the beach. They spent a few hours chatting and getting to know each other. It was ...
... of Spanish. For a novice, this throws me off quite a bit. Luckily they all speak English but reading can be difficult although many places will have both languages represented.
By the time I am done settling in, I have just enough time for a quick walk along the beach. It is a long beach, 2km or so. It is reasonably pretty with palm trees. The street along the beach is full of bars, restaurants and tourist stores. Every block is a cookie cutter of the next. I crash early.
... They walked along the Palma waterfront taking pictures and hunting for souvenirs. Our mantra in every port is "Magnets and patches and caps - Oh My!". While they were trekking, we were swimming in the ocean and enjoying the wind filling the sails. Kai and Steve were almost hit by a motor boat while swimming - America does not have a monopoly on idiots driving boats.
... had a moment on top of that roof, cathedral to my left, harbor in front of me, and ancient castle in the distance on my right. It was pretty overwhelming to be up there. Anyways, Sorry for all my typing errors and spelling mistakes, etc. I'm too lazy to go through and edit. love and miss you all. One of these days I write about what I've been doing in cadiz just on a reglar basis. But for now I feel like it is important to at least write about my big trips.
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands ryank5Sevilla-Stuttgart Flugdauer 21 Stunden! Dank sei Air Berlin!
