Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands mickinwhitby... the lobby. Dinner last night was quite exceptional. Paul had the duck confit and I had the pork chop....both were delicious.
So we left Ribadeo yesterday and took the coastal road. It was like I imagine Highway 1 down the California coast used to be in the 50s. We stopped at Cathedral Beach and I'm attaching the photos. ... the city which contains all the old buildings and churches is pedestrianised and huddles round the grand cathedral. The Cathedral is vast and very ornate. The guide books say that is best seen in the rain so that all the lichens and mosses are highlighted. The weather duly obliged!
The car has decided to have a sick day and has gone to the Ford dealer to recuperate! We collect it tonight and move on to Portugal in the morning.

So, the sculptor gave her a reduction and she was placed in the cathedral. However, the cheesemakers of Galicia were displeased with the bishop's decision, and decided that they would make the signature cheese of Galicia boob-shaped in the statue's honor. Gotta love the badass cheese-makers of 15th century ...

It consisted of Anne (78) and Mary-Anne(72) friends from Berkeley, California; Bridget and Pat (23), brother and sister from Chicago, Mara and Lara, friends from New Hampshire and New York; Ian and Alison, from Scotland, and on their honeymoon; John (from Scotland) and his Columbian wife(?); and last, but not least, Steve from Birmingham, who provided us all with very many funny ...
Santiago de Compostela, Spain diannemurray... took a 7 hr bus ride from Oviedo. The town is named after the Apostle Saint James ("Santiago"), who legend has it that he is buried here. Enough said. Just look at the pictures and see for yourself. We stayed 3 nights here, and I defintiely had a great time with the people I met there.
