... Now that might not sound inviting more most people, it was a real treat after some of the welll...interesting hostels I had stayed in in the past.
Scott and I spent the early evening trying to figure out the internet situation at the hotel so that we could get in touch with Mom and Torrey before they left on their night train to meet us in the morning, Though it was a bit complicated, after an hour or so we figured it out and decided to rent a movie before ...

After a 6 hour drive, (we´ve now covered around 1,600miles since leaving Bmth ) we enter Granada just b4 dark. Granada is the gateway to the Sierra Nevada, and our intention is to stay 2nights, mainly so we can spend one day in the Alhambra. We pitch our tent just b4 dark, the campsite conveniently located 5km outside Granada. We immediately notice a sharp (can see our breath!) drop in temperature, so after a camp meal and a couple of ...
... everywhere, lettuce flying in the air, and one elderly Spanish woman at my feet. Who by the way did not speak a lick of English. I helped her up, she was saying something in Spanish, way to fast for my comprehension, and helped her collect her belongings which by this point were strewn about throughout most of the main street. Somehow Cassandra and I ended up escorting this lady to her home, which was at the apex of the ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands kostandina... fell asleep for a bit, but I stayed up and internetted. Then we went to get tapas. The streets were really loud, we thought they were rioting. Turns out there was a Barcelona Soccer game (I think championship match), and Barcelona won. Everyone was honking their horns and yelling in the streets at 11pm. It was crazy. They were also setting off firecrakers.
For tapas we went to the Meson Europa. Me and Wiz first ...
... walls and the most breathtaking views that I have ever seen. The castle is situated far above the city, allowing for some amazing panoramic photos. The gardens are equally gorgeous such that I could have easily extended our visit longer than the four hours allotted if I was not starving by the end of it. We spent the rest of the day shopping on a hidden Moroccan street and touring the downtown before heading to a tapas bar for a caña (small ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands danielpeach... and thats about it. One baggage claim belt. No ATMs. Good thing I had some Euros for the cab ride. The road that taxis drive ends about 10-15 minutes walking distance from my apartment. The alley one walks from the road to my apartment is made of cobblestone, framed in between white stucco walls and red roof tiles, in the part of Granada called Sacramonte. I was given one key to open the puerta that leads from the alley ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands stereognostic... must have been hell. Met a cool Slovenian guy named Jona in Cordoba. Jona is a tour guide for a British travel company and consequently speaks perfect English, which unfortunately is still a necessary trait in potential friends for this pathetic single tongued north american. Jona also speaks Italian, Croatian, German, of course Slovenian, as well as his own blend of Italian/Spanish which he calls Spitalian. It consists of speaking Italian to ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands rbruce... forward to for a long time and it was worth every second of anticipation. I have two weeks left in my intensive language program until my 10 day break before the fall semester starts. I am looking forward to my first journey outside of Spain which will take me to Amsterdam for several days and then to Dublin for the rest of the break. Pretty pumped! I am also looking forward to the semester starting up and getting back in the normal ...
Granada, Spain gibby186x... there. At one end of the main chamber was a small sanctuary with a basilica adorned in black, twisted marble columns. The square room had detailed statues of Jesus and other Christian icons in all corners, walls adorned with absolute masterpieces, and a spectacular cupola painted by Antonio Palomino.
The night life in Granada was fun, but not quite up to par with Sevilla. One of the best things were that the tapas there were free - and that whenever you went to a ...
