Walking the Streets of Barcelona

... get in was horrendous) lots and lots of pictures, had lunch, then hopped back on the buses. We did 2 separate loops of the hop-on hop-off system and it took most of the day to get back to where we started.

The Sagrada Familia was cool in that it was different. There were all sorts of animals carved into the outer walls of the cathedral. And of course it is still under construction after over 100 years (it’ ...

I picked the first available place from the LonleyPlanet's list for Barri Gňtic. It proved to be a simple hostle, a double room with a shower (aka no private toilet) is €60E. The place is basically 3 steps from the Rambla's beggining (end?). It's the second time I visit in Barcelona, still just don't understand what's so inetersing about this street, really!

More Gaudi in the Sun of Barcelona

Today, we went to Park Guell, (no cost) an outdoor park designed by Gaudi. We took a taxi from the hotel for $10E. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and the park was great to see after seeing it (among other films) in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the movie. We wandered the park, visited the small museum set up in Gaudi's former residence on the park site ($5.50E - not really worth it but Andy liked it). We had a ...

Barcelona, everyone should visit this amazing city

... is pretty much the same in the afternoon on a hot day. When I was finished at the temple I decided to hike up the hill and head over to the cable car ride which goes over the water to the greatest beaches in Barcelona. Shocking enough I got lost once I was up on the hill and couldn´t find the cable car. I did happen to find a couple other things I wasn´t going to see. I wandered into the Olympic Park, the home of the 1992 Summer Games. It was really cool walking ...

Barcelona's coolest neighbourhood - a city guide

... and San Antoni Abat are increasingly hosting new enterprises such as restaurants with neo industrial décor or cool bars with kitsch aesthetic interiors which are squeezing in between the Halal butchers and decades-old tapas bars, linen shops and grocers. My mp3cityguides guide to Barcelona has the best of them. One of the most visible examples of the public investment in Raval is the striking new modern arts ...

seafood, sagrada and sorbet

... of for some sorbet. we ate this and wandered around the park the got back on the Metro to Tibidabo. Waited ages for the blue tram, which never came, so caught a bus up to the funicular, which had just closed for the day! Tibidabo 2 - Gaf and Nic 0 Caught the bus back down again and jumped on the Metro back to Paral-lel. Dinner was pasta and sauce then fresh fruit, (well, we are trying to save money) then went on-line to book flights to Palma de Mallorca.

Barcelona!

... cold. we managed to stay for about an hour and a half before heading back to the hostel. Then, once again we stayed here and drank all night long... but I was in bed by 1>30 because i was just too tired.... GROSS STORY:... so I go to bed around 130... and every 10 minutes somebody comes in the room, turns on the light, gets ready for bed... unpacks, whatever. So i didn't get any sleep at all.. and then at 5:30 AM it happened!.... I had just gotten to sleep.. barely ...

A Day On My Own

... a day on my own. Really. I started off. The map was in my bag, but I am a very visual person, so normally I go by sight, and since we had toured around the area already a bit, I felt confident. Tina and Marc are map people, Jer and I are wanderers, feeling our way by sight, or asking, even if just to spark up a friendly conversation with a local. I walked down El Ravel to the end and around the corner past the convent we went by the ...

Crazy, crazy city!

Not much time so will be very blunt... BArcelona is brilliant and very crazy...! Longest we have stayed in one city and it has definitely been worth it. First night, tapas and Sangria, sooooo good, one of my best meals by far, said bye to our travelling buds forever, very sad...! First day we went for a wander down the main street, Las Rambla, crazy amount of people, street perfomers everywhere, pet stalls on the side of the road selling anything from turtles to hens and an AMAZING ...

One Day in Barcelona

... a restaurant called Mussol and we set off for lunch. Imagine a TGI Fridays with exposed brick and shallow niches in the wall where they stack empty wine bottles. They grilled everything, including the vegetables, which were delicious. After lunch we decided to go to see La Sagrada Familia, the cathedral designed by Gaudi and still under construction. Turned out to be a 15 block walk (why are people so dead set against taking taxis?) in 90-plus degree heat. I was furiously ...
