... we began to wonder what was going on, but were reassured by some sounds from within.....perhaps the delay was a slightly Spanish attention to timing. Eventually one of the Swiss bravely rang a little bell, whereupon a giant, bearded Spanish man opened the wooden door, and announced that the Monastery was closed until Sunday in preparation for Holy Week. We head out to Mercado San Miguel, walking by Plaza Mayor. Once at San Miguel, we ate tapas of Paella, olives, cheese, and Jamon Iberico.
